What is BACK in Shape
BACK in Shape is an 8-week education and exercise program designed for those who have reoccurring lower back pain or who are recovering from a lower back injury.
Who is BACK in Shape for
Back problems are among the most common chronic conditions in Canada. 4/5 adults will experience at least one episode of back pain at some time in their lives and 2/3 people who do are likely to have a recurrence within one year.
Why Participate?
Current evidence suggests that education and exercise combined is more effective than just exercise alone for preventing lower back pain.

Your Initial Assessment
During your first visit a registered Physiotherapist will:
2 Education Sessions
The 60-minute education sessions will teach participants about:
6 Pilates & 6 Yoga Exercise Sessions
They are led by trained Pilates and Yoga Instructors who have additional training in lower back pain. You will:
Post Assessment
Reassessment by a Physiotherapist will be done to identify any changes to the key objective and subjective measures taken at the start of the program.
Billing to your Extended Health Benefits
These sessions are individualized group exercise therapy sessions run under the guidance of a registered Physiotherapist. Therefore, we are able to bill this program to your extended health benefit plan. If you are eligible for MSP Supplementary Benefits we can also bill a portion of the program cost to your MSP plan, with a discount of up to $230.
In order to reserve your spot in the program the full amount of $450 is still required up front.
As you attend each session we can bill to your extended health benefit plan or MSP plan and you will be reimbursed the amount your plan covers.
